Spring Break - Finally!

I know this post is a little late, but we've been offline a lot lately (Jeremy's been trying to set up wifi and it has not gone well). Anyway, our spring break was fabulous. We didn't go anywhere exciting, we stayed here in the valley and made our own fun. I laughed inside myself as the week went on because I'd find myself thinking about my next blog post, thinking, "Wow, I'm a real blogger now," but then I'd come back to reality and realize I didn't take half the pics I wanted for the blog. I still have a way to go to be a real blogger.
Monday:

We started the week off with a bang. The Goodman family met at Usery Pass Mountain for a yummy breakfast. We all brought part and cooked it there at the ramada. It was like camping, but no fire and no tents, just beautiful early morning faces that you gotta love. We enjoyed laughing, some weak hiking (the kids whined all the way), good food and hopefully the start of a great tradition.

Tuesday:
We're off to Freestone Park in Gilbert. I love that park, and evidently so does the rest of the east valley since they all were there Tuesday for lunch. But that didn't matter because we got t0 hang out with my bf from EA, Lindsey and her kids. She is one of my dearest friends that I seldom see -sorry Linz. We had a great time playing on the playground, rolling down the hills, feeding the ducks and riding bikes.

Tuesday night Jeremy and I got to meet up with our friends for dinner (yes, hard to believe, but me and Jer have friends). We laughed and laughed and enjoyed seeing Richand and Tiffany again.

Wednesday:
Off to the park again. This time for the annual neighborhood St Patty's day festivities at Sheepherders. As always, it was a party full of good times. The kids enjoyed what was Tiffany's last scavenger hunt for the treasure box of candy. (sorry, no pics my camera battery died). After a few hours of fun, we came home and the kids decided it was finally swimsuit weather. They got them on and played forever in the hose and sprinklers. I did get my camera charged just enough to take a few pics of the kids in their bathing suits that are way too small, You could even see Annie's boobas in some pics and too much tummy on Hannah and Abby. I guess it's time to buy new suits.

Thursday:
March Madness begins! We kept the day low key and Jake and I spent it watching games and checking our brackets every five minutes. Wow! There were a TON of good games. It is only during March Madness that I ever care how most teams do. I usually only care about Uof A and the rest of the Pac10, but never have I watched an Old Dominion or Baylor game, but somehow those teams are so important during the Big Dance.

Friday:
Let music lessons begin! We finally got ourselves a new piano, well very old and used, but new to us. We spent the day rearranging our home, and then finally I got to bang out the hymns on our new piano. I love having a piano in the home, I just wish I had practiced more all those years of taking lessons - sorry Mom.
Saturday:
We ended the break on a high note. We took our kids to our traditional (4 years in a row now) showing of the Easter Pageant. It was just a rehearsal, so very few people were there, but as always, WONDERFUL! I love the Easter Pageant. I love being reminded of Jesus' life and atonement for me. I love it all, but for some reason, I love the dance that the 10 virgins do reminding me to get my lamp spiritually full. It got me thinking about my own spirituality and how it can be really weak sometimes. I cringed as always, when Jesus is getting whipped and then bawled, as always, when He is resurrected and the cast sings I know that my Reedeemer Lives, and finally when He ascends into heaven. It is one night guaranteed to bring the spirit.

Jake was complaining before we left that we had to go watch it, "cause we already saw it last year". I told him to get used to it because we are going every year until he is 18. It is amazing to me how wiggly the kids are then how still they become as the pageant begins. I love the hour of snuggling with my kids wrapped up in blankets to keep warm. I hope they got something out of it. Hannah wanted to know when Jesus got to go into Heaven. Annie, I know, was looking for the donkeys the whole time, and when Jesus was hanging on the cross, Annie looked at Jeremy so compassionately and concerned, "Look, there's Jesus." Then she said very seriously (and I might go to hell for typing this), "I see Jesus underpants." Bless her heart.

Well that's it in not so small of a nutshell. We enjoyed ourselves, got rid some of our glow-in-the-dark whiteness, got our cheeks just a little pink, and gulped up many happy-hour slushes at Sonic. What more could you ask for?

  1. WHAT A GREAT SPRING BREAK and who are all those kids in your Monday photos, are those Julie's girls?? Man, your family is getting HUGE!! And what is March Madness, who the heck are the Old Dominios, Bayors and the Big Dance???...it's like a foreign language?? but glad you speak it!! Your kids got an earful of Aunt Diane yelling about oranges yesterday so I will call that March Madness...Congrats on your new piano...sounds like you'll put it to better use that we've done with ours for the past 29 years...that is one of my many regrets! DO IT, MAKE YOUR KIDS DO IT...!! Love your posts Karrie!! Man, those are cute kids!
