Random Lessons Learned of Late

So I haven't posted in a few weeks, but here's a few bits of what's been going on and what I've learned:
The other night, I decided to get the BBQ going for Jeremy so we could eat dinner before midnight. I had been marinating chicken all day and was so excited to chow down. So I go out to get the grill started and it doesn't start, so I go and get some matches, light one and throw it in and - POOF a huge flame blew up in my face. Jake was there and we both jumped back about 10 feet pretty freaked out. I then felt my face to make sure my eyebrows and eyelashes were there, (they were). But I learned a lesson, BBQing is a man's job at our house. I did go inside and checked out my face and the tip of my eyelashes were all a bit singed and my unibrow was sticking out which made it easier to pluck:)
I've learned that whenever I judge or criticize someone I'm always humbled at the fact that I usually don't reallyknow what's going on with them. Usually I learn after I make the judgment that I only knew about 2% of their story. I guess until I walk a mile in anyone else's shoes, I can't judge. I'm recommitting myself to not judge others so harshly and and to just try harder to love.
I've reinstituted quiet time with Hannah and Annie. It's the only way I can get Annie to take a nap. Otherwise she's climbing out of her crib, which makes me think it's time to get her in a real bed, right? Anyway, when she's sleeping, I read to Hannah. We have millions of books, but she only likes the same 10 read to her, which I have memorized.
This last bit is coming with a disclaimer: It may be inappropriate, but I laughed really hard, so only read if you have a sense of humor and won't hate me for writing such nonsense. - There are some things you should know about Annie: she's 2, she's darling, she can't say her R's and she obviously can't count. So the other day I was in the shower and I let Annie jump in with me. She looks at me and says, "Mom, you got boobas (boobers)?" Where did that term come from, certainly not from me. Where do kids get this stuff? I kinda covered myself up a little embarassed, but thinking it was a bit funny. Then she decides to count them, and says "You have, 1,2,7,8,9,10 boobas?" "No!", "I yell, "I'm not a nursing dog!" That's when I decided it's time to start locking my door to shower:)

  1. I am laughing very hard right now. It may be inappropriate for some but for my mind and simple life I love it. Keep it on.

  2. I love Annie's story. That is so funny. If Annalise has taught me anything it is that I don't have any privacy. My boys don't come looking for me when I am in the bathroom, but Annalise will find me every time. She even wants to "help" me. A lock sounds like a good idea.

  5. I've had so much fun reading your blog! I love how your personality shows through in each post. When I started nursing Samantha, Troy says to me, Mom you could feed two babies. I say what do you mean Troy. He replies well you know, you have two of those things. Cracked me up for days.
