Anyway you say it, a girl is still a girl

I have four wonderful and unique children. They all have their own strengths they bring to our family, they all make me crazy at times, and the definitely all have made me laugh a lot over the years. I love them ALL so dearly.
I've been noticing how Annie has been saying the word "GIRL". All of my kids have had to learn it and they all say it well now (except Annie), but not always. For some reason, it has been a toughie for the Platt children to learn.
Jake used to call them grrr's - with no vowel and no 'l'. For that matter he called "squirrels", squr's - and this was the child that was so articulate so young, but he just couldn't get down those two words.
Abby had a terrible lisp and called them girlths. Everything ended with a 'th'.
Hannah also lisped, but added in some spit with it (still does) calling them 'girlths' spraying you each time.
Annie I think is my favorite girl sayer, she calls them "gores". I often ask her if she's talking about Al or Tipper.
It makes me sad when my kids innocent way of talking finally matures and they figure out the way they're supposed to speak. I find myself still talking in their old ways, while they look at me like I'm nuts.

  1. This made me laugh! Hannah's way cracked me up cause I can hear her saying it now. And Annie's GORES is so precious. "I not a baby, I a big GORE!"
